Colon Cancer Awareness Month

March is the month we raise awareness on colorectal cancer, this powerful and vicious disease is the third most common cancer in the United States as well as one of the leading causes of death from cancer. Colorectal cancer does not discriminate, affecting all races and ethnic groups over 50 years.

Bringing awareness to remind individuals (both men and women) of scheduling a screening for colorectal cancer can actually help reduce the number of deaths, 6 out of 10 to be exact, by catching this disease or other health problems in the early stages.

Take action now and help us raise awareness to prevent colorectal cancer. Join organizations, communities, families or colon cancer patients and survivors as we get the word out through volunteering opportunities, events around your community, becoming a buddy to a cancer patient and asking doctors for additional information or screening options. Just one person can make the difference on another life, which could end up being yours.

Keep this blog going, tweet about it on Twitter, post it on your Facebook or share with friends and family members as you go out and help your community raise awareness on colorectal cancer!

  1. I just had colon surgery ten days ago.
I would not of had the colonoscopy if it weren’t for the GI doctor to day I’m doing both endoscopy (which was why I went to him) and lower. All the while he’s pointing his finger at me and said you’re 56 and you’re due no wuestions asked.
He saved my life. I had a tumor mass on the ascending side of the colon. The biopsy came back benign but still had to be removed because within three to six months it could turn to cancer.
Over a foot of my colon was taken out plus lymph nodes
Tomorrow I find out my results when I go back to the surgeon for my post op appt.
    Need prayers right now
    Sincerely,
    Stephanie
